OUR TEACHERS
Katrina Barker: Principal and Teacher
Katrina trained in RAD Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Jazz Ballet at the Scully Borovansky School of Dance in Sydney. After leaving school, Katrina became a full time ballet student for 2 years before embarking on a 10 year career as a proffessional dancer. Katrina accumulated experience in a wide variety of dance styles throughout her career, performing in theatre, clubs, television and on P&O Cruise ships where she travelled the world.
While raising her family Katrina enjoyed choreographing musicals for local societies, and creating dance items for the schools her children attended. This lead to forming the very popular Boys Dance Group at Glenbrook Public School, which continues to thrive since its formation in 2001. Katrina was also a KINDA DANCE Teacher in the Penrith area for 7 years, where she gained a wealth of experience in teaching preschool dance.
Katrina started Barker Dance School due to popular demand from Glenbrook parents, and is proud to have trained a wealth of young dancers to become fine performers and talented and dedicated teachers.

TAYLA WHITE: TEACHER/DANCER
Tayla began dancing at Barker Dance at five years old. From a young age, Tayla loved the nurturing environment BDS offers and quickly began to incorporate new styles and classes into her dance training. Barker Dance has provided Tayla with numerous performance opportunities, such as a role in the Blue Mountains Musical Society’s Annie in 2008 and many dance workshops to extend her training. Tayla was another founding member of the first BDS xTend Performance team. Barker Dance has supported Tayla in her RAD Ballet training and allowed her to further her dance training by undertaking RAD exams each year. With valuable training, Tayla has successfully completed all grades up to Grade 8 and Intermediate Foundation. CHLOE STEIN: DANCER/ACRO TEACHER
Hi, I am Chloe. I trained with Barker Dance School from preschool age where I learnt the importance of technique and performance while having fun through a range of styles. Barker Dance’s wonderful ballet teachers supported and encouraged me allowing me to complete my RAD ballet exams. Along side my dance, I trained and competitively competed in gymnastics reaching level 6. While in high school I was apart of several dance groups performing at many eisteddfods and festivals, School Spectacular and the school musicals, ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Miss Saigon’ as a dancer. In year 12 I received 3 Callback nominations for all my HSC performances. Last year I became an accredited Acrobatics Teacher with AcrobaticArts and began teaching gymnastics in primary schools. Barker Dance School provided a supportive, inclusive and motivating environment while I was a student as well as countless opportunities and I love that I am now able to share my passion, knowledge and skills with the students each year, just like they did for me!
BARKER DANCE is proud to have Chloe dancing and teaching for us this year, and both Chloe and Emma are excited to be moving forward with our ACRO DANCE classes this year and seeing the students progress.
